DIDN'T WE DO WELL...OTAGO FARMERS MARKET NATIONAL WINNERS
WE WON, WE WON, WE WON !!
I am so happy that the Otago Farmers Market www.otagofarmersmarket.org.nz won "Taste" Farmers Market of New Zealand! Not only did we win but we had more than double the amount of votes than any other market. It is great that our market is getting some well deserved recognition at long last. Sometimes when you are in the far-south it is hard to spread the word about just how damn good the food is and it is GOOD!
I have done my far share of travelling and visited many food markets on my way. What i think is truly unique about our market is that we are not trying to be anything other than what we are and that is a Farmers Market selling honest, locally grown, seasonal food that was either pulled, picked, packed or baked for us to enjoy.
I am very proud to be the Market Chef where i get to create weekly recipes using only produce grown at our market resulting in the freshest, seasonal produce available. And it is great to see more and more people are enjoying being able to buy only the freshest seasonal produce and keeping it local. That is what a market is all about!!
